CafeZaffri, a Levantine inspired restaurant on the ground floor of Union Square’s The Twenty-Two is a collaboration between Post Company and London-based Child Studio. All branding was done by us and developing closely with the team across restaurant collateral.
The building itself, an idea ahead of it’s time, holds a unique history. Commissioned by heiress Margaret Louisa Vanderbilt in 1891, it was was built for enterprising women, a symbol of agency and voice. Here, a new women-led institution elbows through, and like all true New York establishments, a space that reinvents heritage through irreverent iconoclasm. White tablecloths are an invitation for evidence of enjoyment, celebration, and revelry. Contradiction is at the heart of the Zaf’s concept, one that elevates the exceptional, questions the traditions of hospitality, and provides opportunity for unconventional gatherings and surprising guests.
Within the formal and historied architecture of The Twenty-Two, inside a room dripping with luxury lies a story of expression, rebellion, and exuberance. Across interiors and branding , we developed a narrative that balances formality and play. Custom silk wallpaper and tasseled menu books are invitations for long dinners with multiple martinis and fries for the table.
