Project Narrative

Located on the historic Saratoga Racecourse in Saratoga Springs, NY, the Brentwood is a 12-room single-story hotel that occupies a former motor lodge. In a city known for its picturesque Victorian bed and breakfasts and family-run inns, the Brentwood represents a new type of hospitality experience – one that resonates with existing and new demographics. The building has been completely overhauled and updated with the comforts of modern amenities and designed to balance classic architectural and equine motifs of Saratoga - with just enough irreverence to make you look twice.

Prominently positioned on a corner lot, the building’s exterior takes cues from the surrounding stables. The pristine white board-and-batten exterior is complemented by lush but simple landscaping composed of large, billowing grasses and birch trees. The cozy lobby, part check-in and part lounge, is designed to feel like a classic parlor with reclaimed white oak flooring from Hudson & Co., antique gilded mirrors, and a unique collection of vintage oil paintings. The millwork is completely custom with oak and brass detailing and a bar topped with rounded honed Carrera marble.
