In a city known for its breadth of character and charm, it comes as a surprise to many that there are few places to stay here that reflect San Francisco’s commitment to the new, the different, and the unexpected. The new Hotel Tilden is an inspiring new addition to the routine roster of San Francisco hotels. Centrally located in the vibrant neighborhood of the Tenderloin, the Tilden is housed in a handsome historic 1928 building. The extensive renovation includes a completely new lobby, tastefully updated rooms, and the addition of a new restaurant, bar, and street-side coffee shop.
Like the neighborhood it calls home, The Tilden embraces authenticity and personality. The lobby’s beautiful blend of simple modern furniture (most locally made and handcrafted) and warm design details create a stylish and sophisticated space that at once feels airy and open, yet cozy and comfortable. Here, no detail is too small: custom lighting and furniture coupled with commissioned original artwork of native California plants speak to a place that values collaboration and community.
